AIESEC in Malaysia Awards Night

AIESEC in Malaysia Awards Night (AMAN) was held on 17 December 2011 (Saturday) in Bangsar Seafood Garden Restaurant with the theme of COLOURS.

In this night, AIESECers were awarded for their contribution to the organization for the past one year. Awards were up to grab for all the Local Committees in Malaysia based on the criteria for each awards.

AIESEC in UUM was proudly to have Darren Ho, won the Best Alumni award in that night. He had contributed a lot to AIESEC in UUM as well as other Local Committees in Malaysia. He was the President of AIESEC in UUM back in term 2000/01. Although he had left university 10 years ago but yet his passion in AIESEC kept him as a big supporter of an alumnus in the Alumni AIESEC Malaysia.

AIESEC in Malaysia Election

On 17 December 2011, nine representatives from AIESEC in UUM were in Universiti Malaya for the AIESEC in Malaysia Election for the term 2012/13.

On that day, there was an election for the President of AIESEC in Malaysia as well as the Member Committee Vice Presidents.

It was a one day stretch from the morning until evening for the election. AIESEC in UUM congratulates Guo Zhang for being elected as President of AIESEC in Malaysia for term 2012/13.

Congratulations to Geraldine O. Chang, Tan Wei Jun, Joanne Lim and Joshua Lim for passing Vote of Confidence for Member Committee Vice President for term 2012/2013.

COB UUM Awards Night 2011

On 21 December 2011, AIESEC in UUM was invited to participate in the COB UUM Awards Night 2011. It was held in EDC Hotel, UUM. AIESEC in UUM represented by 11 persons to the event.

In this event, Khor Gaik Huey, Local Committee President and Chang Mun Keat, Vice President of External Relations were receiving the awards for their best performance in the year of 2011.

Khor Gaik Huey was awarded "Anugerah Kepimpinan Siswi" while Chang Mun Keat was awarded "Anugerah Projek Terbaik Sahsiah"

Congrats to both of them. They had made AIESEC in UUM proud.

Winners of AIDS Awareness Campaign

RED Wave Initiative was organizing the AIDS Awareness Campaign in conjunction with the World AIDS Day 2012.

After two weeks long of the click a LIKE photography competition in our RED Wave Initiative fanpage, the winners were announced.

They are Lim Thiam Huat, Saw Wen Yee and Goh Xiang Peng. They won a set of DVD player + 2 set of 35MM LOMO AQUA PIX Waterproof Camera.

Last AIESEC Gathering for 2011

To end the last AIESEC Gathering in the year 2011, we had our last ever gathering on 20 December 2011 in DKG 2/4.

In this gathering, all UUM AIESECers were participating in station-games where they were divided into six groups with around 9 to 10 members in each group.

In every station-game, two groups were competing with each other to test their AIESEC knowledge, team work, and creativity.

The winning group received a clue to guest on the character on each of the WANTED poster which was referring to every member of Executive Board term 2011/12.

We would like to congratulate Foo Kong Yau and Teh Boon Ping for being awarded the Leader and Member of the month respectively for November.

Global Fiesta 2011 in UUM

Cultural Understanding Through Exchange (C.U.T.E.) was organizing the Global Fiesta 2011 in Universiti Utara Malaysia. This event was held on 15 December 2011 in DPP TM Hall.

A special thanks to all the supporters from UUM AIESECers, clubs and associations of UUM as well as UUM students for spending their time to attend our Global Fiesta 2011. It was a successful event.

Global Carnival 2011 in UUM

On 11 and 12 December 2011, Cultural Understanding Through Exchange (C.U.T.E.) project was organizing Global Carnival 2011 in Foyer Library, UUM.

In this Global Carnival 2011, every UUM student and staff witnessed the cultural diversity from more than 10 countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, Cambodia, Brunei, Singapore, Japan, Korea, Russia and etc.

There were having countries booths to show their countries cultures as well as traditional games from their countries for everyone to participate.

Workshop for Green Art DIY

RED Wave Initiative team

AIESEC AIDS in Action is a campaign organized by AIESEC in Malaysia and implemented by RED Wave Initiative project from Universiti Utara Malaysia.

In conjunction with the World AIDS Day on 1st December, RED Wave Initiative organizes AIESEC AIDS in Action in Universiti Utara Malaysia to create awareness, bring impacts to community, raise fund for our Community AIDS Service Penang (CASP) and last but not least, to educate people in Kedah on HIV/AIDS.

On 29 November 2011, AIESEC AIDS in Action campaign was launched by our Deputy Vice Chancellor (Students Affair & Alumni), Datuk Dr. Ahmad Faiz B Hj Abd Hamid and was witnessed by Dr. Mohd Farizal Rajemi, Deputy Dean of Students Development and Alumni College of Business. The opening ceremony was held in Foyer Library UUM.

AIESEC in UUM is the co-organizer for this year's 10th Penang Career & Postgraduate Expo 2011 which would be held on 12 and 13 November 2011 (Saturday and Sunday) in Penang International Sports Arena, Penang.

The Press Conference was chaired by YB Tuan Abdul Malik Bin Abul Kassim, Ahli Majlis Mesyuarat Kerajaan Negeri Pulau Pinang and the objective of the Press Conference is to launch the of 10th Penang Career & Postgraduate Expo 2011 to the general public.

Local Leadership Development Seminar 2011

Hey AIESEC..!

We had concluded our first local conference experience for our new members of AIESEC in UUM. The Local Leadership Development Seminar 2011 was held from 26 October until 28 October 2011 in St. Anne, Bukit Mertajam.

A total of 70 delegates and 8 facilitators were participated in this local conference with the support of three organizing committees. The local conference had ended with a blast and everyone was satisfied to spend their three days in this conference.

We would like to thanks the chair, Chong Yee Leng and her facilitator team, Ben Mah, Irene Lee, Khor Gaik Huey, Jacqueline Khoo, JY, Cyrus Wong and Howard Tee for the awesome sessions in this year's local conference.

Global Village in UUM

It was our first ever Global Village in Universiti Utara Malaysia. Global Village is a global carnival that young people from various countries will be attending to showcase their culture. Each participant country is given a stall and performance time to showcase their culture. Countries put up dances, sing, play music, act or put up any performance that best describes their culture.

Last Thursday, 13 October 2011, Cultural Understanding Through Exchange (C.U.T.E.) was organizing a Global Village for all UUM students. We were happy to have more than 200 students participated in the event from 7.00pm until 10.00pm.

We were having interns from Netherlands, Germany, Russia, Poland, Kazakhstan, Cambodia, Jordan and Egypt jointly organized this Global Village.

1st AIESEC Gathering

It was our first ever AIESEC Gathering for the term 2011/12.

It was our first time ever to record so high participants were joining in the AIESEC Gathering. We were grateful to have our current and new AIESECers attended this event.

In this event as well, we had started to mix around between the current and the new AIESECers. We were having a several current world and national issues to discuss in small group and afterwards shared their opinion regarding these issues to everyone.

In this gathering as well, all of us were writing on our short and long term goals that are wanted be achieved in future in a piece of paper. All the papers were collected and will be returned to them by the end of the semester for them to review on their own goals set by themselves in the beginning of the semester.

Afterwards, we were having the rewards and recognition to our Member of the Month for the month of July and August. For the month of July, it was rewarded to Chin Ee Mei, Organizing Committee President of RED Wave Initiative through her amazing contribution to our AIESEC in UUM for the month of July.

Meanwhile, for the month of August, it was rewarded to Lim Han Wei, Manager of Non-Corporate Relations for her excellent performance in the month of August and shown a great supporting to her team during the semester break.

Lastly, the most exciting slot for the AIESEC Gathering was the announcement for the Team Member Programme results. We had 75 applicants applied for the positions in the Team Member Programme and it was a tough decision for us to select 43 applicants into the positions.

A new baby alumnus of AIESEC in UUM, Raymond Gan Beng Keng was graduating in the 2nd session of the UUM 24th Convocation.

AIESECers of UUM were celebrating with him and we were having a great time "cornering" him. It would be a great experience for Raymond.

RED Wave Initiative Workshop on 24 Sept

Another 150 students of Universiti Utara Malaysia had been educated with HIV knowledge today in a Sports Science class. They were very proactive during the session and we were glad that everyone of them actually helped out very much in raising fund for Community AIDS Service Penang. We always believe that every single RM 1.00 of your donation would make a big impact to the people that need it.

AIESEC Emergence Day in UUM

AIESEC Emergence Day is an event to convey information about AIESEC in more details to potential members and also to provide activities for members that are being recruited to interact with each other.

We had concluded our AIESEC Emergence Day in Universiti Utara Malaysia on 23 September 2011 (Friday) in the New Pusat Kegiatan Pelajar (PKP) from 9.00 am until 2.00 pm.

It was a great success event although a lot of our new recruited members were having activities on that day, they were still made it available to our event in the morning.

The best part of this event was all of the new recruited members were playing the AIESEC Game which is a team building game that relates on every department in AIESEC and how the departments are working together to build and sustain on our organization.

After this event has ended, we officially opened the application for the Leadership Opportunity to our new recruited members.

In the early morning of 30th of August, a bus carrying 65 participants of AIESEC’s International Congress 2011 in Kenya met with an accident on its way from Nairobi to Mombasa for post-conference holidays. There was one fatality, Elmer Pérez Requiz, a native of Bolivia and President of AIESEC in Bolivia. One person was also severely injured, Irma Bedjic, Vice President of AIESEC in Bosnia & Herzegovina. She is being treated. Few other individuals also suffered minor injuries, for which they have already received treatment. We are in touch with the families of Elmer and Irma and supporting them. All other individuals were treated at the hospital in the city of Voi and are continuing to Mombasa. Though the conference ended on the 29th, the conference team is working nonstop to secure medical and psychological support to all involved. Moreover, the local authorities have been alerted and are taking appropriate actions to determine the cause of the accident.

Today is a sad day for all 60,000 AIESEC members and their families in 110 countries and territories. As we continue our work to empower young people, we will hold everyone affected by this unfortunate accident in our minds and in our hearts.

1,000 HIV Champions

On 4th of August, we were having the last HIV workshop in Han Chiang High School for the RED Wave Initiative interns.

It was a very successful HIV workshop as the RED Wave Initiative interns had educated more than 1,000 students of Han Chiang High School on the several topics of HIV.

We received a very good feedback from both teachers and students on the workshop conducted by the interns. The students of Han Chiang High School were paying attention on the workshop and were having fun on the games conducted during the workshop.

We hope we can create a better world and bring some impacts to the people around us towards HIV issue in the future!!

Last Day of Dutch Ambassadors Training

As usual, before we began our Dutch Ambassadors Training, we started with a team building game. This time, it was a very challenging and interesting as we were blind-folded and had to kept silent throughout the game to build a "house" with a folded string. It took us several minutes to think on the best way to make the "house" and we were very happy to play on this game.

Today, our topic was Face to Face Sales Training. Thank you Eva Wubbe for your experience in sales and marketing and Nicole Lodder for your advice.

We did several recruitment simulations from the tips and advice from both Dutch Ambassadors. We were happy to receive positive and reconstructive feedback from everyone.

We learned a lot from Eva and Nicole. The Face to Face Sales Training was a very meaningful and helpful to us to execute during our Member Recruitment Drive which will be scheduled in September 2011.

We felt so sad as today was the last day of the Dutch Ambassadors Training. Thank you once again for your awesome and fabulous education and training to AIESEC members of Universiti Utara Malaysia. We will remember both of you forever. Keep in touch with us.

Dutch Ambassadors in Ramadan Bazaar

Today was our 2nd day of Dutch Ambassadors training and we were very enjoying the team building game before we proceed to the training topics.

Today, we were taught on the goal settings, importance of feedback and the communication process. We were happy to today's topics as the topics were so significant to our life. We are very thankful to both Dutch Ambassadors for the tips and knowledge on the topics to us.

As this month is the Ramadan month and there would be a lot of Ramadan Bazaar around the Penang. We brought both of the Dutch Ambassadors to visit on the Ramadan Bazaar and introduced our Malaysian foods to them.

It was their first time to see the Ramadan Bazaar in front of their eyes and were amazed on Malaysian foods. They had tested the Roti Jala, Indian Pasembur, Murtabak, sweetened puree and Putu Mayam from the Ramadan Bazaar.

Dutch Ambassadors In the House

AIESEC in Universiti Utara Malaysia was happy to receive two Dutch Ambassadors, Eva Wubbe and Nicole Lodder from Netherlands in Penang from 1st of August until 5th of August. They are here for the Dutch Ambassadors Program to give training to our AIESEC members.

On 2nd of August, we were sharing on the background of Holland, team building exercise, the Local Committee Structure of Holland, and the introduction of AIESEC label from Holland as well as our UUM's background.

We would like to thank to Khor Gaik Huey, Christine Loh, Lee Hui Yi, Teh Sam Weng, Ng Yuen Heng, Chang Mun Keat, Chin Ee Mei and Carmen Lui for spending their time to join the Dutch Ambassadors Program.

MoU Signing Ceremony

On 15th of July, there was a signing ceremony of Memorandum of Understanding between AIESEC in Universiti Utara Malaysia and Han Chiang College and High School.

The event took place before the Global Village at 7.30pm in Multi-Purpose Hall, Han Chiang College.

Briefly background for the cooperation between AIESEC in Universiti Utara Malaysia and Han Chiang College and High School.

It’s all started in the early of this year when the members of AIESEC in Universiti Utara Malaysia approached the teachers of Han Chiang College and High School and presented to them the exchange projects that are running by AIESEC in Universiti Utara Malaysia. For everyone’s information, AIESEC in Universiti Utara Malaysia have been running exchange projects which are the C.U.T.E. that is stand for Cultural Understanding Through Exchange and the RED Wave Initiative. Both of these projects are accepting interns from globally and the interns are here for developing the community around us as well as developing themselves.

Based on the AIESEC has been established in our world ever since 1948 and AIESEC has been growing into one of the largest youths run organization in the world, these core benefits have received attention and interest from both Han Chiang College and High School. As from the exchange projects, staffs and students from both Han Chiang College and High School would receive benefits through their better understanding towards other country cultures such as the Global Village event.

From there onwards, members of AIESEC in Universiti Utara Malaysia have been following up with the management of Han Chiang College and High School and we came into consensus on having both of the exchange projects of AIESEC in Universiti Utara Malaysia in Han Chiang College and High School.

In the early of July, that’s the starting point for the realization of 20 interns from 14 countries for the C.U.T.E. and the RED Wave Initiative projects.

Global Village in Han Chiang College

We had successfully organized the Global Village in Han Chiang College. We had more than 200 participants in this event. They were from the teachers and students of Han Chiang College, teachers and students of Han Chiang High School, AIESEC members from Penang and publics.

First RED Wave Initiative Workshop

Today our RED Wave Initiative interns were having their first HIV/AIDS workshop in Han Chiang College. It was a successful as we had invited a nearby clinic to do the free HIV test as well. It was Han Chiang College's first time to receive the nearby clinic to have the HIV test to their staffs and students.

Sharing Session with Penang's Deputy Chief Minister

It was our honourable for being invited to meet with the Penang's Deputy Chief Minister, Dr. Prof. Ramasamy on today. We were happy to have our Local Committee President, Ms. Khor Gaik Huey as well as the Organizing Committee President of RED Wave Initiative, Ms. Chin Ee Mei to represent our AIESEC in Universiti Utara Malaysia to meet with Dr. Prof. Ramasamy.

We were invited to a sharing session with Dr. Prof. Ramasamy on our current projects, Cultural Understanding Through Exchange (C.U.T.E.) and RED Wave Initiative. It was our pleasure to have our interns together with us in the sharing session of our projects with Dr. Prof Ramasamy.

Global Village in Han Chiang College

Global Village is a global carnival that young people from various countries will be attending to showcase their culture. They will be given performance time to showcase their culture. Countries put up dances, sing, play music, act or put up any performance that best describes their culture.

There has 14 countries to be displayed in the Global Village :

4) Sweden

5) Iceland

6) Indonesia

7) Poland

8) Czech Republic

9) Germany

10) Kazakhstan

11) Kyrgyzstan

Come join us as it is a rare chance to have 14 countries to showcase their countries information, traditions and etc.

They would be having performances as well by 19 of the interns together with the students of Han Chiang in this event.

Great Start for Our Blog

This was the graph for the number of page views taken from the Blogger's Stats.

As shown inside the graph, from the past one year, our page views for each month was around 400 to 800 page views. Since, our new blog had launched in June 2011, our page views for June solely had reached 2,684 page views. Big applause to our Communications team. They had done a great job to revive our blog.

Although you have seen a huge drop on the page views in July 2011, yet we have had achieved 827 page views from 1st until 10th of July. We believe by end of this month, we shall exceed the June's page views.

CUTE interns bring HIV/AIDS message

GEORGE TOWN: Nineteen students and graduates from 14 countries are “camping” for three weeks at Han Chiang College (HCC) here with a mission to spread HIV/AIDS awareness and knowledge.

The interns from Russia, Taiwan, Vietnam, Sweden, Iceland, Indonesia, Poland, Czech Republic, Germany, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Peru, Honduras and Belgium arrived here recently as interns of the RED Wave Initiative and Cultural Understanding Through Exchange (CUTE) “out campus” projects.

The projects are organised by global youth organisation AIESEC in Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM).

The students will hold exhibitions on HIV/AIDS at HCC and Han Chiang High School.

Among them is Elias Josue Rivera from Honduras, who flew from Taiwan where he is studying.

“The RED Wave Initiative is to educate and inform the public on HIV/AIDS prevention, dispel myths and alleviate the stigma that comes with the disease,” said the Business Administration student, who is in Malaysia for the first time.

Time flies so fast.

Today is 30th of June and we shall bid good bye to the Management Team 2010/11 in a few hours. In a few hours as well, we shall begin with a new term 2011/12 and there would be more challenging tasks for us.

It reminds us one year ago when we want to start our term 2010/11, we were so excited to start our term. It is so nostalgia to remind back our journey throughout the whole term. Now, we are having the same feeling, we are excited to reach 12.00am in few hours to start our new term and to strive for the best in the coming months.
